Gendarmerie was one of the law enforcement and military institutions of Iran that operated from the Qajar period to the Islamic Republic. The Swedish Gendarmerie and the Iranian State Gendarmerie, or simply Gendarmerie, was the name of a gendarmerie-type military force that was formed in Iran in 1288 (1910 AD). This military organization was established by the Swedes at the request of the Iranian government from the Swedish government. Gendarmerie was responsible for the security of roads and places outside the city.
